posted Feb 27, 2017, 6:05 AM by Lynn Ackerman
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Town Meeting will be here soon! I am writing to inform you of some important school related questions on the School District Ballot this year.

A school governance merger has been recommended by the Act 46 Study Committee and approved by the State Board of Education. You will be asked to vote on the creation of the Quarry Valley Unified Union School District. The recommendation is part of a comprehensive proposal in response to the new legislation. The attached brochure outlines this plan.

More information is available by visiting the Act 46 merger website: https://sites.google.com/a/rcsu.org/rcsu-rswsu/

You may also contact your West Rutland Study Committee representatives directly with questions, including Blake Cushing (blakecushingwrs@gmail.com), Joanne Bania (jogban@gmail.com), and Kendra Hogan (kendravt@myfairpoint.net).

Some members of the Act 46 committee presented information about the proposal during an PEG TV program entitled: Act 46 Study findings:  http://cvp.telvue.com/player?id=T00969&video=303353    Airing Mondays at 2pm, Tuesdays at 5:30pm and Thursdays at 9:30pm.

Another question on your ballot is the West Rutland School Budget.  Detailed information concerning the school budget may be found in your town report. We have presented information about the West Rutland School Budget during a PEG TV program as well. West Rutland School Budget Presentation: http://cvp.telvue.com/player?id=T00969&video=303801  Airing the half hour before the West Rutland Board Meetings. The show will air on Mondays at 9am, Wednesdays at 3:30pm and Saturdays at 10pm.

Remember to attend Town Meeting March 6th presentation at the West Rutland Town Hall where members of the School Board, Study Committee and School Administration will discuss these important topics and respond to your questions. Also, please to vote on March 7th.

If you have any questions concerning the school budget or the Act 46 merger proposal please contact me.

Thank you for your support of our students!

Yours in Education,

Debra J. Taylor
