Shackleton Book Discussion

posted Apr 4, 2016, 7:59 AM by Nicholas Corey

West Rutland’s Shackleton expedition is drawing to a close.  The final event is a discussion of Caroline Alexander’s The Endurance: Shackleton’s Legendary Antarctic Expedition.  This book discussion--at the WR Public Library on Thursday April 7 from 5:30-7:30pm--will be led by Mary Beaulieu.

If you have the book, please finish it and return it at the event (or send an e-mail to Ms. Lashof telling to whom you have passed on the book).  It’s NOT too late to borrow the book and join in, just stop by the school or public libraries, or Ms. Lashof’s room (307).

The Shackleton inspired art display at The Night of Shining Stars and the movie showing at the town hall both drew large crowds. Over 30 students displayed art work or submitted designs to the button contest.  Buttons are still available for those who finish either book.  Three copies of the Endurance and of Caroline Alexander’s Shipwreck at the Bottom of the Ocean have been added to the circulating collection at both the public and school libraries. These books will also be available for students to choose for their summer reading assignments.

Thank you to all who participated in any of the events!
